Logitech G920 Software and Driver

Playing a racing game with a steering wheel is fun. The question is, which steering wheel should you get?

Since steering wheels can be expensive, you want to get one that is worth the cost. And if you are looking for an entry-level option, look no further than the Logitech G920 steering wheel.

Don’t be mistaken, however. Although the G20 is in the lower end range, it can enhance your gaming experience in many ways.

Below, we tell you the steering performance, gear performance, pedal performance, as well as operating systems that are compatible with the Logitech G920 software.

2. Logitech G920 Steering Performance

Let’s start the review with the steering performance. The act of steering the G920 steering wheel will bring you joy. How come? Well, first and foremost, the wheel has 900 degrees of rotation.

This makes you feel as if you are steering the wheel of a real car.

Second, the movement of the wheel is very smooth, and it has nice force feedback motors as well. The strong forces pull and push at your steering inputs, further enhancing your gaming experience.

Third, excellent ergonomics.

The downside here is the B button placement. The B button is the only method of applying the handbrake. And yet, it is awkwardly placed. Fortunately, you can work around this by assigning the handbrake to another button.

3. Logitech G920 Gear Performance

Next, gear performance. The paddle shifters of the Logitech G920 are decently made. If you are used to manual gears, you will probably feel the shifters really nice under your fingers.

As nice as they are, the paddle shifters are not a good mix of form and gameplay.

When you play a game that requires severe steering movements (like WRC 18, Gravel, or Dirt Rally, for example), you will find that you often need to change gear when you have lost track of the position of the levers.

The result?

You might try to grab the closest level you can find, then end up upshifting the gear instead of downshifting due to the upside-down wheel.

Of course, racing game players should know which way is up and which way is down at all times, but it is easier said than done when using a 4-wheel slide.

That said, some of the units come with the gearstick adaptor. With this setup, adjusting the gear will be easier.

4. Logitech G920 Pedal Performance

What about the pedal’s performance?

When you the G920 steering wheel, you will get nicely-built pedals with the unit. That means clutch control, accelerating, and braking are all under your feet. Not only that, but they also offer progressive control.

Using the pedals, you can avoid a lock-up by squeezing the brakes, avoid wheelspin by gently revving the engine at the startline, or find the clutch biting point.

The problem is, not all units are the same. Some users reported that they receive a stiff brake pedal that is difficult to engage, needing extra weight of force to apply the brake at 100%.

The cause of this problem seems to be the rubber in the brake pedal, which is added to provide authentic resistance. In some cases, however, the rubber is too thick, which leads to the said problem.

You can remove, trim, or take the pedals apart and add a third-party spring, but these will void your warranty, so we don’t recommend them.

5. Logitech G920 Compatible Operating System

The Logitech G920 software is a must if you want the full functionality of the steering wheel. The question is, what operating systems are compatible with the software?

If you are using a PC, it needs to run Windows 7 or a newer operating system. If you are using a Mac, it needs to run macOS 10.1 or a newer operating system.

In either case, the steering wheel should work just fine if you update your operating system. Other than those operating systems, the G920 is also compatible with Microsoft Xbox One and Xbox One S.

(Note: If the steering wheel is not running as it should, check if the firmware is up to date.)

In short, the Logitech G920 is an entry-level steering wheel that has solid performance, whether it is steering performance, gear performance, or pedal performance.

Similar to other Logitech gaming peripherals, you will need corresponding software to make the most of the device. In this case, you will need to install the Logitech G920 software, which will grant you full functionality of the steering wheel.
