There are lots of entry-level gaming keyboards out there but not many can compete with the Logitech G510. While the G510 is a non-mechanical keyboard, it offers a lot for gamers. Want to know more about this keyboard? Read on.
Below, we tell you the keyboard’s design, features, performances, pros and cons, and operating systems compatible with the Logitech G510 software. Let’s start.
1. Logitech G510 Design
One of the first things you will notice from the Logitech G510 is its size. With dimensions of 3.37 x 9.94 x 20.99 inches, the G510 is quite a sizable keyboard for gaming.
Although the keyboard eats up space, what it has to offer is more than enough to make up for it. And if you are a fan of larger keyboards, this will be more of an advantage than a disadvantage.
On its left side, there are 18 G or macro keys, all of which are customizable. On the right side, there are media controls which include a dedicated mute button, a volume control, and of course, play and stop keys.
The keyboard also has a built-in LCD and wrist rest, both of which will enhance your gaming experience further.

2. Logitech G510 Features
The Logitech G510 is packed with features. It just has so many to offer, especially for MMO and RTS fans. First and foremost is the macro keys. There are 18 keys in total. Does that mean you can only have 18 assignments for these keys?
The answer is no. Here’s a fun fact: each macro key on the Logitech G510 can be assigned with three different modes. That means you can have up to 54 different combinations in total. That’s quite a lot for a gaming keyboard. Not to mention each key can be assigned with complex combinations, too.
There is also a built-in LCD screen. The screen is not a gimmick. It is really useful. It does, however, have its limitations. Since the screen is monochrome, available color options are limited.
The screen has some built-in applets, enabling it to show health levels, ammo, media display, profile selector, CPU, and memory usage, and even various system temperatures if you pair it with utilities like EVGA’s Precision. All these are shown while you are playing a game.

3. Logitech G510 Performance
The performance of the Logitech G510 is solid. In terms of comfort, the keyboard is rather flatter than average. Yes, even its legs extended. That said, the G510’s wrist rest is quite large, which is more than enough to make up for its flatness. Typing and pressing keys is comfortable thanks to the smooth keys.
What about the backlighting? Well, you can customize it, too. But you will need to install the Logitech G510 software first to do that.
What’s unfortunate is that there is no brightness setting for the backlighting. You can only set the color and turn on or off the backlighting.
4. Logitech G510 Pros and Cons
- Quick and comfortable to use
- 18 dedicated programmable macro keys, each of which can be assigned with three different modes
- Useful LCD screen
- Embedded audio devices
- Dedicated media control keys
- No USB hub
- The LCD has limited color options
- The brightness of the backlighting can’t be set
5. Logitech G510 Compatible Operating System
When it comes to operating systems, as long as your operating system is not too long, your PC or laptop should be compatible with the keyboard’s software and drivers.
If you want to make the most of the keyboard, your operating system needs to be either Windows 7 (or newer) or Mac OS X 10.4 (or newer).
Also, since the keyboard is not a plug-and-play device, you will need to download the software first. You should be able to find it on the Logitech official website, or download here.
If you are looking for an entry-level keyboard for gaming, the Logitech G510 is a solid option. How could it not? The keyboard boasts 18 programmable macro keys with each key can be assigned with three different modes, bringing a total of 54 assignments.
Not to mention the LCD screen and onboard media controls that will enhance your gaming experience further. You need to install the Logitech G510 software if you want to make the most of what the keyboard has to offer.
