- Design and Features
The Epson XP 440 has dimensions of 15.4 x 20.8 x 11 inches and a weight of 9.5 lbs, making it a very compact, all-in-one inkjet home printer. The tiny footprint makes it quite appealing, especially if you don’t have much room to spare for a printer.
Of course, a tiny footprint is not the only thing it offers. The printer can print, copy and scan. It also comes with versatile connectivity technology. You can connect it to a computer via USB, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct.
The printer supports Google Cloud Print, is Mopria-certified, and is compatible with Apple AirPrint. These allow you to print via a mobile device easily.
The XP 440 also supports Epson Connect software solutions, which include Email Print, Epson iPrint, Epson Scan to Cloud, Epson Remote Print, and Epson Creative Print.
The printer comes with 4 individual ink cartridges—one cartridge for black ink, one for cyan, one for magenta, and one for yellow. A standard black ink cartridge yields 175 pages, while a standard color ink cartridge yields 165 pages.
Speed-wise, the XP 440 is quite modest. It can print 10 black pages per minute and 4.5 pages per minute. Not bad for a home printer.

2. Epson XP 440 Output Quality
What about the output quality? The XP 440 produces above-average text quality for an inkjet printer. The text quality is good enough for most home, school, or business applications.
The same goes for graphics quality. It is also above average and good enough for business applications. It may produce mild banding in many backgrounds, but the banding is hardly noticeable.
Unlike text and graphics quality, photo quality is below average. In brighter areas, loss of detail can be noticed. Color shifts can also be abrupt, which is not ideal for photo prints.
3. Running Costs
There is no official figure for the running costs. But based on the yield figures and price of the XP 440 most cost-effective cartridges, the running costs are about 6.2 cents per page for black prints and 18.2 cents per page for color prints.
For a home printer, the running costs are somewhat high.
