Not everyone needs a heavy-duty, multifunction printer that comes packed with lots of features. Some of us just need a home printer that can perform its chores well, reasonably fast, and produce excellent quality.
A compact size will be a bonus.
Looking for a printer like that? Check out the Canon Pixma MG2500.
In this post, we review its printing and scanning speed, design and features, printing and scanning quality, wireless setup, pros, and cons, as well as operating systems that are compatible with the Canon Pixma MG2500 driver.
1. Canon Pixma MG2500 Quick Specs

2. Printing and Scanning Speed
The MG2500 can print up to 8 black pages per minute and up to 4 color pages per minute. It takes about 104 seconds for the printer to copy a full page. These numbers may be far from impressive, but they are decent enough for home printing needs.
3. Design and Features
The Pixma MG2500 is a compact printer. Its dimensions are only 16.8 x 12.1 x 5.8 inches. Not only it has a small footprint, but the printer is also quite light, weighing no more than 7.6 lbs.
This leaves you plenty of space on the desk. Moving the printer around is easy, too.
One of the best appeals of the MG2500 is its price. The printer is very affordable. However, this affordability comes with a cost. Namely, the lack of features.
Despite its lack of features, the MG2500 performs quite well. Especially so for a printer in its price range. And it does so without additional software needed.
The printer also comes with Canon’s Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering or FINE, which allows the printer to use ink efficiently, resulting in excellent output quality.
4. Printing and Scanning Quality
Printing and scanning quality is one of the Pixma MG2500’s strong points. Like any other Canon device, the MG2500 performs really well in this area.
The printer produces bold and sharp black text. When printing colored images, the colors don’t run together. As for photo prints, the quality is exceptional considering the printer’s price point.
It has great color reproduction, sharp detail, as well as smooth color gradients.
5. Wireless Setup
Multifunction printers these days often come with an integrated wireless feature. Not so with the Canon Pixma MG250. Being a low-end multifunction printer, the MG2550 has to cut corners.
One of these corners is built-in wireless support.
This is not a problem if you only plan to print through a USB connection. But what if you need to do it wirelessly? While the MG250 has no built-in wireless support, there are workarounds that allow you to print wirelessly. It just that it takes extra steps to do so.
The first workaround is by using a wireless router. If your router has a USB port, you can connect the printer to it. This will share the printer across the wireless network, allowing you to print wirelessly.
The second workaround is by using a PC or laptop as a medium. To do so, connect the printer to the PC or laptop. Then, from the PC or laptop, share the printer across the network. This setup is easier to use.
The only downside is that the PC or laptop must be turned on whenever you want to print wirelessly.
